The Branson Police Department will give its biannual report to the Branson Board of Aldermen at the regularly scheduled study session on October 17, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. in the council chambers at Branson City Hall located at 110 W. Maddux St.

This report includes department activities throughout the year and will release updated numbers from the most recent Uniform Crime Report. In the report, Police Chief Jeff Matthews will highlight a few significant investigations, preview a Department re-organization and the Department’s ability to overcome staffing challenges to initiate investigations and make contact with persons in suspicious circumstances.

"Although we are experiencing slight increases in some areas of our Uniform Crime Report, I remain encouraged. Our officers and detectives continue to work extremely hard for our community," said Chief Matthews. “I’m hopeful the slight increase we experienced in July and August will trend down through the remainder of the year. Last month our staff identified and arrested several suspects we believe contributed to many of these increases.”

In the report, Chief Matthews will also talk about how police calls for service are about 3% above 2018 levels and officer self-initiated activity is trending about 5% above 2018 levels.

The report will also feature several successful community engagement programs held throughout the year, including the new Summer Teen Engagement Program (STEP) and the newly formed Citizens Police Academy & Alumni Association.

The Branson Police Department encourages citizens to attend this study session to hear the full report. The audio of the report will be available on the City’s website, the day after the meeting at
