Community gearing up for National Night Out October 1

NNO 2019

The City of Branson is preparing for Branson’s annual National Night Out (NNO) that will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. NNO is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.

Branson Police Chief, Jeff Matthews, is encouraging everyone to participate by organizing a neighborhood get together for Tuesday night, October 1, or even just turning on your porch lights and going out to meet your neighbors that night.

“National Night Out is an excellent opportunity for neighbors to rekindle relationships, foster new ones, and work toward strengthening community and neighborhood livability. Last year’s National Night Out events were a huge success and neighbors across the City enjoyed quality time visiting with new and old friends,” said Chief Matthews.

All departments in the City of Branson including the Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works, Utilities, Parks and Recreation, and Administration will be out, traveling to each neighborhood block party to meet with residents and to explain how they can utilize City resources. Currently, there are about 14 official neighborhoods that have signed up with Branson Police.

If you want to make sure Police and other City Departments stop by your neighborhood gathering on Tuesday, make sure they know about it. You can message the Police Department on Facebook or call the station at (417) 334-3300.

NNO is a national event, usually held the first Tuesday of August, however, some communities, including Branson, choose to participate in October because of heat concerns.
