Fire Causes Minimal Damage to Branson Hotel

The Branson Fire Department responded to the Rosalee Inn Motel located at 505 Gretna Road Tuesday afternoon. The fire department was notified by the manager of a possible fire in the attic space above the motel office.
First arriving fire units reported smoke showing from the attic area and possibly the second floor of the motel. “Based on this report a second alarm was initiated causing off-duty fire personnel to recall to their stations and additional resources to respond from the Western Taney and Southern Stone County Fire Protection Districts,” stated Fire Chief Ted Martin.
The fire was discovered to have started in electrical wiring in the corner of the office near the floor and extending up the wall into attic space. “The firefighters did an excellent job opening up walls and access points in the attic to confine and extinguish the fire. Damages are minimal and no guest rooms were affected by flames or smoke,” added Martin.
Firefighters upon their arrival did turn off the natural gas supply to the building and isolated the electric power to the office area for safety. “As the request was made to the natural gas company to restore the gas service, their personnel found critical safety violations in the commercial water heater and it will not be able to be used until repairs are made,” stated Martin. The manager has arranged to move the approximately 20 residents of the motel to another property for the night with a goal of repairs being made to the water heater on Wednesday.
The fire was under control within 15-20 minutes and there were no injuries at the scene.
