The City of Branson’s Tree Board invites the public to attend the Eighth Annual Arborfest on Friday, October 13. The Arborfest activities will take place at the Branson RecPlex located on Branson Hills Parkway starting at 9:00 am.
This event began as a way to promote the fall season as the optimum time to plant trees and shrubs. “Autumn is a less stressful time of year to plant or transplant vegetation, as the air temperatures are cooler and less water is lost through the plants leaves. It also provides time for the root systems to develop before spring and the hot summer months,” stated Perry Eckhardt, Senior Planner for the City’s Planning Department.
In addition to planting, fall is the ideal time to mulch all of your trees and shrubs. Mulch will provide protection to the roots when there are big changes in temperatures. However, mulch should be applied properly to ensure the tree’s health. “We are excited to have a Forester from the Missouri Department of Conservation on-site to teach a short program on proper planting and mulch techniques,” stated Eckhardt.
Registration is requested, but not required by contacting Perry Eckhardt at (417) 337-8544 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
