Branson Convention Center Reports Now Available for YE-2016 and Q1-2017



The City of Branson has published the most recent reports of the Branson Convention Center for the Year Ending 2016 and 1st Quarter of 2017 as presented to the Board of Aldermen.

The 2016 Year-End Report showed that actual revenues of $4,337,371 came in $17,290 above the forecasted budget of $4,320,081, delivering a $22,748 better loss at of $398,783 than that budgeted of $421,531 398.

In 2016, the Branson Convention Center reported: 

  1. 2016 Estimated Group Attendance:  92K (2015: 75K which is a 17K increase year over year)
  2. 2016 Groups:  193 (2015:  219)/-26
  3. 2016 Group Event Days:  397.  (2015: 378 Days)/+19
  4. 2016 Group Room Nights at Hilton Properties:  38,907
  5. 2016 Estimated “NET” Per Capture Rate (Food/Beverage/Rental/Parking): 2016: $32.21/2015: $43.66 (ASCE & SYTA)

Highlighted events of 2016 include:

Embracing one of Branson's core values of sustainability, the Branson Convention Center contributed to the environmental and cultural sustainability of the city by:

  • Creating the “Railway Herb & Garden” on property which produced product for catering clientele and for use by the Branson Convention Center culinarians in soups and salads.
  • Establishing the “Mayors for Monarchs Butterfly Garden”  in the South Parking Lot - an effort to further the initiative created by the Mayors of Missouri to help sustain the longevity and prevent the extinction of the Monarch butterfly population by creating a milkweed habitat that provides the nectar needed by Monarchs to live. 
  • Unveiling the first ever art program in collaboration with the Branson Arts Council featuring the works of more than 20 local artists in the upper level concourse. This showcase will rotate every six months for visitors to enjoy.
  • Achieving a 47% diversion rate through the commitment of the Branson Convention Center and SMG to recycle and compost.

The Branson Convention Center is well on its way to achieving similar results in 2017 as those reported in 2016: with March Net Revenues of $108,000, SMG topped its best first quarter since transitioning in 2014. To date, the Q1-2017 Report shows the Branson Convention Center is already experiencing a better loss than that forecasted, bringing in $140,ooo more revenue than budgeted. Actual revenue reported $993,000 compared to budgeted revenue of $853,000. With expenses of $119,000 above those budgeted, the P&L shows a better budgeted loss of $21,000 as of the close of first quarter.
